PRESQUE ISLE — Kaitlin Saulter scored off an assist from Claire Petersen with 13:48 to play in the first overtime, lifting the second-seeded Hermon Hawks by the No. 1 Presque Isle Wildcats, 1-0 in the Eastern Maine Class B girls soccer final Wednesday.
Freshman Bryanne Crouse made eight saves for No. 2 Hermon, which improved to 15-2 heading into Saturday’s 5:30 p.m. state title game against Western Maine champion Falmouth (13-2-2) at Scarborough High School.
Chandler Guerrette nearly had given the top-seeded Wildcats the lead when she put a shot off the crossbar eight minutes left in regulation. Meredith Stewart made eight saves for 15-2 Presque Isle.
The teams had split their regular-season meetings, with Hermon winning 3-0 at home on Sept. 8 and PI taking a 1-0 victory Oct. 13 in Presque Isle.
