JAY, Maine — A Livermore Falls man convicted of breaking into buildings at Spruce Mountain Ski Slope and stealing a snowmobile several years ago was charged Thursday with break-ins there this week.
Ronald J. Davis II, 22, was arrested on a felony charge of burglary and misdemeanor charges of criminal attempt of theft and criminal mischief, Detective Richard Caton IV said Thursday.
On Tuesday, a witness reported somebody was driving a bulldozer up the middle of Spruce Mountain, but fled when approached.
Caton said Davis was caught on surveillance video at the site. The attempted theft charge is for the bulldozer and the criminal mischief charge is for damage done to buildings and plowing up dirt on the ski slope. The lodge, a garage and the club’s house used for meetings, first aid and equipment storage were broken into, he said.
In 2008 and 2009, Davis was charged with breaking into ski area buildings and stealing a snowmobile owned by the Spruce Mountain Ski Club. He was convicted on those charges, according to court records.
The towns of Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls jointly own the ski area and the buildings. The club owns the equipment and operates the ski slope.
Police from Jay, Livermore Falls and the Franklin County Sheriff Department responded to Tuesday’s incident.
Davis was being held on $350 cash bail at the Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington on Thursday afternoon.

Probably stole the bulldozer cause it would more damage than
a puny little ATV.
Even though numerous ATV’ers try their darndest to tear things up.
Unfortunately on other peoples land.
Never outgrew his sandbox and Tonka toys?
Hasn’t learned one single thing in the last 4 years. NUTHIN!!
With our courts the way they are,why should he?
whip him to an inch of his life !
Now that’s carving UP some slopes!
Bright future ahead.
Too bad he didn’t try to make a run for it on the dozer…would have made a great chase video, right up there with the slow motion OJ Simpson white Bronco deal.
