CARIBOU – Doris Marie Martin, 79, wife of the late Norman Martin, died Nov. 1, 2012, in Caribou, after a brief illness. She was born March 15, 1933, in Stockholm, the daughter of Joseph and Maria (Bourgoine) Plourde.
She was a mother and housewife, and worked for local potato farmers for more than 40 years. She loved playing bingo and pennies. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Doris married Norman Martin, July 16, 1951.
Surviving are three sons, Norman “Billy” Martin and his wife, Carlene, Gerald “Bobby” Martin and Steven Martin, all of Caribou; one daughter, Ella Mae Martin of DeWitt, Iowa; sisters, Marie “Pearl” St. John of Terryville, Conn., Linda Arnold of Greenville and Patsy Thomas of Bangor; grandchildren, Scott, Kristi, Billie Jo and Bobby Martin and Jennifer Dubois, all of Caribou, Billie Jean Martin of Madison, Brandy Plourde of Emden and Angelica Thomas of Austin, Texas; 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; her parents; brothers, Camille, Armond, George and Russell; and sisters, Nancy, Madeline and Geraldine.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday and 1 p.m. until the time of funeral services Monday at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Doris’ nephew, Father Kevin Martin, officiating.
