GRAND ISLE – Clifford L. Cote, 78, passed away Nov. 3, 2012, at a Bangor health care facility, as a result of a vehicular accident. He was born July 11, 1934, in Madawaska, son of the late Ernest and Germaine (Levesque) Cote.
Clifford worked for more than 30 years as a custodian/bus driver for Van Buren District Secondary School. He was affectionately known as “Pepere Hot Wheels” to many students in Van Buren. He truly enjoyed making swings and other various woodworking activities.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Louise Chasse of Grand Isle; seven children, James and his wife, Claire, of Grand Isle, Robert of Connecticut, Verna Chaney and her husband, Timothy, of New Hampshire, Elaine Gaudreau and her husband, Brian, of Connecticut, Llewellyn and his wife, Esther, of Madawaska, Roger and his wife, Linda, of Connecticut and Ernest and his wife, Kathleen, of Madawaska; 16 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rolande, Adeline and Pauline; and two brothers, Raymond and Ernest. He was predeceased by his daughter, Linda; a daughter-in-law, Nancy; and his sister, Priscilla Bois.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at St. Gerard Church. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at Lajoie Funeral Home. Interment will be immediately after the service at St. Thomas Cemetery.
