BANGOR and ORRINGTON – Ferrol M. “Vera” Mitton, 86, died peacefully Nov. 3, 2012, at a Bangor health care center. She was born May 6, 1926, in Brewer, the daughter of the late Raymond E. and Marjorie E. (Libby) Tardiff.
Vera graduated from Hermon High School and was a devoted and dedicated wife and homemaker.
She is survivied by two sons, Patrick Mitton and his wife, Hazel, of Orrington and Gary Mitton and his wife, Tina, of Bangor; one brother, Paul Tardiff and his wife, Gladys, of Bangor; one sister, Gloria Thibodeau of Lincoln; six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of many years, Addison “Mickey” Mitton; a son, Michael A. Mitton; three brothers, Raymond, Richard and Arthur Tardiff; six sisters, Lucille Tardiff, Evelyn French, Hilda Betters, Dorothy Huntington, Ann Rogerson and Charlotte Sabine; and a special aunt, Hazel Libby. Vera’s family gratefully thanks Dr. Penny Lamhut and the staff of the Maine Veterans Home, Bangor, for their dedicated, excellent care.
Family and friends may visit 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer, where a service honoring Vera’s life will be held 1 p.m. as the visitation concludes. The Rev. Carl Schreiber, pastor of East Orrington Congregational Church, will preside and burial will be afterward at Marston Cemetery, Orrington.
