BANGOR, Maine — A teenager from Winterport was arrested Sunday night after she was seen hitting her caseworker and she became so enraged that she smashed a window of the police cruiser that took her to jail, according to police.
The 15-year-old girl, who was not identified because she is a juvenile, “was having some issue with a caseworker in the parking lot of the cinemas and she was hitting her [caseworker], striking her,” Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said.
Officer Joe Baillargeon was at the Bangor Mall Cinemas 10 for an unrelated reason and saw the teenager yelling and screaming at her caseworker at about 5:24 p.m. Sunday. After she wouldn’t calm down, the teenager was arrested, charged with criminal mischief and placed in Baillargeon’s cruiser.
“She ended up kicking the back window of [his] cruiser out” en route to Penobscot County Jail, where she was processed for her trip to Mountain View Youth Development Center in Charleston, Edwards said.
Additional charges may be filed, the sergeant said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)

If she had a caseworker, she probably had some issues, like Autism or something on the spectrum. I hope she is ok.
Issues coping whenever the meds, like Ritalin, wear off is a likely contributing factor.
Foster kids have caseworkers….my guess is broken home issues…
Why was she not charged with Asssault and Battery? Is kicking out the cruiser window a more serious offense than hitting her caseworker?
It would be up to the case worker to press charges. If they didnt want to the girl wouldnt be charged with it.
