SKOWHEGAN, Maine — Authorities in Maine are looking for a 15-year-old Skowhegan girl who has been missing since late October.
Police told the Morning Sentinel that Samantha Quimby was last seen at her mother’s home on Oct. 25, just hours after police tracked her down after she allegedly ran away from a foster home.
Police say they are concerned because Quimby is under a protection from abuse order issued last week following a request from the Department of Health and Human Services. The order names a relative who is not supposed to have contact with her.
She was last seen wearing a gray sweatpants and a purple zip-up sweatshirt. She weighs about 100 pounds and has long blond hair.
Anyone who sees her is asked to call police.
Why was she in a foster home ?
Something having to do with abuse within the household. They said in the article that there is an abuse protection order.
What does that matter??? That’s confidential information anyway!

That was my first thought too. I read the article to see if maybe the family just hadn’t reported it. It still isn’t clear but it appears the police knew. I find it very frustrating when something like this happens and the public isn’t notified sooner. I don’t remember who I passed a day ago let alone a week ago! It only takes an hour and a half to leave the state of Maine. Way too much time has elapsed. God Bless her and her family. I hope she is safe wherever she is.

Gotta agree, that description leaves a lot to be desired — 100 lbs with gray sweatpants and a purple shirt. Sort of like what a thousand other kids might wear any day of the week. Then there the aspect — is she really missing or just decided to split from a foster home? Hope she’s okay, it’s a tough world out there.

Where is the picture of this young girl? BDN really should post a picture of her so we can all be on the lookout for the right one. The description they gave is very vague and covers about 95% of the teenage girls today. I hope they find her dafe and sound.

How on earth is anyone supposed to identify her based on this non-description? A 15 year old with long blonde hair and weighing 100 lbs – how tall is she, what distinguishing marks does sh have, etc. This girl has been missing two weeks and this is the best the paper could come up with? For shame!
