SACO, Maine — A dispute between a Saco woman and her ex-husband over their daughter ended with the woman under arreston Monday, police said.
Roberta Bernier, 44, is facing a charge of domestic violence assault after she grabbed the man and shoved him, leaving him with a mark on his chest, Saco Deputy Chief Jeff Holland said.
Holland said Bernier and the man have shared custody of the 17-year old girl.
“The daughter appeared to be having a bad day with [Bernier] and didn’t say goodbye,” Holland said. “The man wanted to make sure his daughter was OK.”
That’s when Bernier assaulted the man, and she wound up under arrest, according to Holland.
Bernier was booked into the Saco police station and released on bail. She is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 28.

where is her picture?if a guy hits a woman his picture always makes it but a womans doesn’t seems one sided.
I agree. We want a picture.
I think BDN might be a tad biased or prejudice. Notice the vic’s name here is, “The man?” Makes me wonder if the reporter quoted the police report or just changed it to suit their own agenda?
BDN is EXTREMELY biased!! It’s getting to be quite a joke!! I can’t even really read this rag anymore, it’s purely biased garbage!
BDN sometimes has way too many agendas.
No Facebook photo either. Go figure.
She must have had a really bad day. Or maybe she’s just mean.
I can just see John Wayne calling the police to tell them some woman just shoved him! lol. My, how times have changed.
This whole domestic violence crap is way out of hand geeeez “Officer she pushed me,and look a scratch on my chest oh my ! A lot of good people out there are getting branded with being women beaters or men beaters and persecuted for it by having rights taking away from them . Because of a silly squabble. Its understandable if someones actually getting the crap beaten out of them. BUT many times that’s not the case. The perception in the eyes of the law seems to lack distinction between severe and ridiculous.
I was going to basically say the same thing. I can’t even believe that this is even news worthy. There really does need to be a certain level of common sense and discretion used by the law in regards to a true assault, and a simple “shove” or similar act. Geez, if you grab someone by the shirt today, you can be charged with assault. It’s nonsense.
sometimes it is hard being a single mom. the husband is probably one of these people that provokes actions like that. being a single mom you have to be husband and wife financially. you know what the economy is like . you know what teenagers can be like too
its the same way for a single dad trying to raise his children with a ex that provokes him daily
A Zero tolerance policy isn’t always the best way to handle these things.
It is just the way things are, these days. DVA – someone goes to jail. If someone doesn’t and things turn very bad, then the cops are accused of not doing enough.
