BANGOR, Maine — One of the two men charged in the shooting deaths of three local people whose bodies were found ablaze in a rental car this summer has been moved from Penobscot County Jail to the lock-up in neighboring Hancock County.

Nicholas J. Sexton, 31, of Warwick, R.I., and Randall “Ricky” Daluz, 34, of Brockton, Mass., both face murder charges in connection with the Aug. 13 deaths of Daniel T. Borders, 26, of Hermon; Nicolle A. Lugdon, 24, of Eddington; and Lucas A. Tuscano, 28, of Bradford.

Daluz was arrested Oct. 2 in New Bedford, Mass., and returned to Maine the following day, and Sexton was arrested at gunpoint on Oct. 4 in Brockton, Mass., and initially attempted to fight extradition but was returned to Maine late last week.

Both have pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

“We’ve moved Daluz to a different jail — Hancock County,” Penobscot County Sheriff Glenn Ross said Wednesday.

Daluz, who also is nicknamed “Money,” was being held in protective custody at the Penobscot County Jail, under maximum security, because he was experiencing some discrimination and harassment by friends and family of the deceased, Ross said last week shortly before Sexton arrived in Maine.

“We felt Daluz had adapted to the facility” and would adapt easily to being moved, Ross said.

The three victims died of gunshot wounds, police have said, and their charred bodies were found by firefighters inside a white Pontiac sedan, rented by Sexton, that had been set ablaze in the back parking lot of a Bangor business.

Daluz and Sexton are charged with three counts each of intentional or knowing murder and one count each of arson.

Sexton is being held in administrative segregation, Ross said.

“He’s been no problem,” the sheriff said, adding the he expects the two to go to trial sometime next year.

  1. So, Daluz is adapting to the facility?
Good , cause if convicted of this heinous crime he will
need all those adaptation skills for a long time to come.

  2. What a sweet sheriff to be so concerned about the well being of the guy who likely killed three persons.  Maybe the sheriff is hoping to get a Christmas card from Mr. Daluz.  They sound like they are on a first-name basis:  “Aw shucks, Glenn, just call me ‘Money’.”

    1. The sheriff HAS to look after the well being of ALL the inmates, they are essentially wards of the state. If the jail didn’t then they would be charged with neglect, it’s that simple. It’s not special treatment, it’s for his safety because right or wrong, good or evil, he is still a human being. It’s a jail not a dungeon.

  3. I hate to be a pessimist but i sure hope this isnt because they plan to make some sort of deal with Daluz to rat out Sexton for the murders.  They both should face the same penalties.  NO PLEA DEALS PLEASE!!!!!

    1. Of course there will be a plea deal !!
Are you familiar with many of the sentences from the Maine judicial system??
      Plan on it.

    2.  More than likely the information that the prosecution has for evidence is shaky at best.  Mr Daluz was moved to a lower grade of prison as part of the plea deal.  Yes he will be sentenced.  Yes he will do time.  No, he will not get out of jail free.  I would not be surprised if he gets some thing like aggravated manslaughter, destruction of property ( the arson).  Yet the two of these inmates can not be in the same prison.  It is evident that Mr. Sexton is the more heinous of the two prisoners.

  4. P.C. for the songbird……he has MANY years of threats to deal with and if he thinks its bad now wait untill THEY both get to the prison ……bet ya someone will try to make songbird soup                            Pass the crackers

  5. Is the sheriff trying to reassure the general public that Daluz will adapt to the jail in Hancock County . . . because if he is, then he should know that we really don’t care.

  6. I’m not sure how he could be harrassed in prison from their family and friends – are they in jail with him?

    1. Most likely there are given the(alleged) nature of and (alleged)type of people associated with the deceased

  7. To quote from the 1931 film, Dracula, “Rats! Rats! Rats! Thousands! Millions of them!”  Methinks here we have a couple of “rats,” each of whom can’t wait to be the first to “rat” on the other.

  8. How much is it costing our County to farm him out or was the Sherrif able to make a trade? Now everytime he wants to talk to his Bangor based lawyer is the State going to have to pay him for the 2 hours of travel time and mileage? I’m sure these guys like to talk to their lawyers- breaks up the time between 3 squares a day and periods when there is nothing on TV but “Law and Order” reruns.

  9. It’s sad that Sheriff Ross is taking a hit to all of this.  What did he do?  The reality is that people play these games with people here in Maine and don’t expect the consequences of “big cities”.  If you are going to get caught up in the drug game then expect the same “game” to win.  I certainly do not condone people being killed due to drug activity…however, expecting that nothing would happen within that world is crazy as well.  All of this never would have happened had people chose to be drug free.  So the insults to Sheriff Ross for doing his job or Bangor PD or whoever is ridiculous.  Blame the people trying to be something big within the drug world!!!
