BANGOR, Maine — A Deer Isle man is facing a pair of felony charges after a stabbing at a Bangor nightclub Wednesday night, police said.
Officers were sent to Diamonds Gentleman’s Club on Harlow Street around 11 p.m. for a reported stabbing in the parking lot, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said in a news release.
Multiple witnesses reported to police that the man responsible, Walker Gaspar, 24, was fleeing the scene on Harlow Street, according to Edwards.
Officer Richard Polk managed to stop Gaspar as he was walking toward Central Street, the sergeant said, and blood was found on his pants.
When police questioned the victim and witnesses, it was discovered Gaspar had been asked to leave the club after he was acting disorderly and tried to start a fight with another man, according to Edwards.
“When Gaspar left, the [victim] stated he later walked outside and was immediately attacked by Gaspar, who was flailing a knife,” Edwards said.
Gaspar was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and aggravated reckless conduct, both Class B felonies, the sergeant said. He was booked into the Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Thursday morning.
The victim, a 26-year-old Newburgh man, was treated at the scene for cuts to his arm and upper torso but refused to be taken to a hospital.
If convicted, Gaspar faces up to 10 years in prison on each charge.

Time to close Diamonds ….People are tired of the noise and chaos till all hours of the morning….and how can we respect folks who don’t know their seventh grade grammar?…Gentleman’s is singular possessive…meaning that the club is for ONE gentleman..Maybe we could get a Grammar Ordindance passed in the city council….In the meantime maybe we could do background checks on patrons to make sure that each patron is indeed a “gentleman.” My feeling is that the club is doomed. Residents are already forming Quality of Life committee.
