PORTLAND, Maine — A man was taken to the hospital for treatment of stab wounds Thursday night, and police are searching for the suspect.
City spokeswoman Nicole Clegg said in a news release officers went to Front Street and found a 37-year-old man bleeding from a puncture wound to his back in the entryway of an apartment building.
The man was stabilized at the scene and taken to Maine Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The suspect, Justin Renna, 21, remains on the loose Friday morning, Clegg said. Witness notified officers that Renna fled the scene on foot.
A search of the area utilizing a canine unit proved unsuccessful. Renna is considered to be armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information should contact Portland police at 874-8533.

It is pretty sad that the media in Maine in general is starting to sound like news from large cities. When I moved to Maine approx 25yrs ago I really got a kick out of watching the local news and reading the newspapers due to the stark difference from the larger city I came from. It was rare to hear or read about crime. The topics would be lodge/VFW etc.. suppers, snowmobiling events some politics but as I said very rarely crime. I must say “I miss the good old days”.
Now things like a man being stabbed is not very big news at all because there are so many more murders, pharmacy robberies and huge drug busts to fill the stories. This is sad to me as I enjoyed bringing my children up in the safety and closeness of communities here in Maine and all that has changed for their future families.
Without Jobs, Hopes and Dreams, there is nothing.. Wasteland USA.
