CARIBOU, Maine — A local girl was flown to the Maine Medical Center’s burn unit Sunday after sustaining unspecified burn injuries Sunday morning, according to the state fire marshall.
“The 8-year-old girl sustained burns when her clothing caught fire,” Tim Lowell, state fire marshall, said late Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred at her Caribou residence between 9 and 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Lowell said, adding the incident is under joint investigation between his office and the Caribou Police Department with officer Mark Gahagan.
“She was transported by ambulance to Cary Medical Center and then flown down to Maine Medical Center,” Lowell said, declining to identify the girl and her family. He would not comment further on the cause or extent of the injuries.
“Our office investigates any time there is significant injury due to fire,” he said. “We are looking into how it occurred.”
The investigation continued into Sunday evening, Lowell said.

Wishing this little girl a complete and speedy recovery!

Yikes. Good luck, kid.
Oh God, bless her heart.
Anyone hears where to send a card, pls post it here.
I would say that I’d be willing to bet if you sent a card to Maine Medical Center addressed to ‘Girl from Caribou with Burns’ or something similar, it will get to her. But, you like to tell me to keep my mouth shut if I don’t know for sure, so I won’t.
I can find out I am friends with one of this childs mothers friends…

Yet another tragedy involving a child. It is always sad when one is injured in an accident but more so when it is a child. Wishing her and her family best wishes for the best possible outcome of a horrible accident. Not sure what happened here but with another heating season upon us we all need to be careful with open flames in our households. Today’s paper has several fires, this time of year most likely from heat sources, in Augusta a man burned using an accelerant to start a wood stove, in Orrington with a father and 3 children killed origin yet unknown, so we must always be extra careful for not only ourselves but also our families. Please all check your carbon monoxide and smoke detectors and replace the batteries twice a year as it is small price to pay to sleep soundly and may save your family from such tragedy affecting you and your loved ones..
Loving thoughts and prayers.
