SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Beverly Ray Lewis, 91, died Nov. 9, 2012, at Mount Desert Island Hospital. She was born Feb. 21, 1921, in Brooklin, daughter of Ray Weston and Violet (Perkins) Griffin.
Beverly retired after many years from Jackson Laboratory. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was a member of the Congregational church in Bass Harbor.
Beverly is survived by her sons, George Lewis of Treetop, Ariz., and Russell Lewis and fiancee, Sharon Smith, of Dover-Foxcroft; daughters, Sherri Hiller and Jeany Hanscom, all of Southwest Harbor; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Shirley “Snip” Lewis; parents; sisters, Juanita Leighton and Arlene Jameson; and two brothers, Karl and Ray Griffin Jr.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Mount Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor, with the Rev. Alton Lewis officiating. Beverly’s family requests no flowers or contributions.
