PORTLAND, Maine — Portland police are searching for a man they say robbed a Bangor Savings Bank in the city Tuesday morning.
Investigators are distributing surveillance camera images of the man, described in a department announcement Tuesday as a white male with a dark goatee, about 6 feet tall with a medium build. According to police, the suspect was wearing a black-and-gray sweatshirt with “ECKO 72” on the front, as well as a dark knit cap and sunglasses.
The suspect entered the 1048 Brighton Ave. branch of Bangor Savings Bank just after 9 a.m. Tuesday, police say, and threatened the teller, who gave him an undisclosed amount of cash. He did not show a weapon, and none of the several employees and customers in the bank was injured, police reported.
The man then left the bank on foot and was last seen walking inbound on Brighton Avenue, according to police.
Police believe he may have gotten into a vehicle at the intersection of Brighton Avenue and Rand Road.
Investigators are urging anyone who has seen the suspect or has information about the crime to call 874-8533, or to submit a tip anonymously through the department website, the phone number 874-8584 or by texting the keyword GOTCHA plus a tip to the number 274637.

Rob a bank that is FDIC insured, walk out with less than two thousand dollars, catch a federal charge and sit in federal prison for at lest 5 years.
He should have robbed multiple mini-marts. Made off with more money and most likely would have been give’in a slap on the wrist by a local judge.
