BANGOR, Maine — A man with a child in the back seat of his Jeep Cherokee crashed his vehicle into a utility pole early Tuesday morning, according to police.
The pole was next to 40 High St., according to Bangor police Officer Steve Pelletier.
Pelletier said it’s unclear whether the driver, whose identity was not immediately released, was intoxicated.
“It’s too early to tell about impairment,” the officer said.
The man and the child, whose gender and age weren’t released, were taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center for treatment. Pelletier was en route to the hospital to interview the driver.

Hope they’re okay. Don’t think the “I sneezed” defense is gonna work for ricocheting off phone poles though.
The driver got out of the vehicle on his own. The words “A man and child were removed from the car” imply otherwise, but I was here. Both were walking around after the incident, and both were VERY lucky….
