GILEAD, Maine — Authorities say three people have been rescued off an island in the Androscoggin River in Gilead after their canoe capsized.
Authorities say the three swam to a nearby island Thursday morning until members of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office and Gilead Fire and Rescue could get a boat to them. The incident was reported at about 9:30 a.m.
All three have been accounted for.
