LINCOLN, Maine — A missionary from Oregon accused in that state of pressuring a 13-year-old Lincoln girl to send him a nude picture of herself might face charges if he ever returns to Maine, Police Chief William Lawrence said.
“We are going to apply for an arrest warrant,” Lawrence said earlier this week. “If he ever decides to do missionary work again in Maine, those warrants will be there.”
“We want to make sure this family in Maine is somewhat protected if he ever shows up again,” Lawrence added.
A Mormon missionary, Kaleb Daniel Lowe, 22, of Springfield, Ore., was charged Nov. 8 by Springfield police with attempting to use a child in a sexual display. He is in Oregon’s Lane County Jail awaiting trial, police said.
Springfield police Detective Sgt. David Lewis has said the investigation began earlier this month when the Lincoln girl’s mother saw a nude photograph of Lowe and suggestive texts he sent to the girl via the girl’s cellphone. Lowe had stayed at the family’s home over the summer while doing missionary work, police said.
The woman contacted Lincoln police, and Officer Mark Fucile contacted Springfield police Detective David Grice, Lawrence said.
Lewis said previously that Lowe agreed to show police his cellphone and from that police gleaned enough information to seek an arrest warrant. However, Grice said in an email a few days later that Lowe refused to cooperate with police and it was Fucile’s work securing the photograph and suggestive texts that made the difference.
“Fucile deserves 99 percent of the credit on this one,” Grice said in the email.
Lawrence did not say what charges Lowe would face in Maine if he returned. The investigation is continuing, and prosecutors from the Penobscot County district attorney’s office and a judge must approve the warrant before an arrest could occur. Extradition in a case such as this is unlikely.

Just goes to show you cannot trust anyone, not even a so called man of god and good job to the mother for being proactive.
I’m not sure that some Mormon kid on his mission qualifies as “a man of God”.
I consider someone who is 22 year of age a man.
Of God? I’ll give you the man part, but let’s be real here – this kid was on the mission to make his parents happy.
He was trying to make something else that starts with a p happy.
What do you mean, if he ever returns to Maine? Don’t you know where this pervert is? Go arrest him!

Thank you Kevin. I missed that sentence despite reading it several times.
Not a problem.
According to Wikipedia (yes, I know), the 5th amendment to the Constitution of the United States precludes “double jeopardy,” that is, being tried for the same (or similar) crime twice. This individual is facing trial in Springfield, Oregon for this offense. Maine would most likely not get a 2nd chance at him. Under those circumstances, the process of extraditing him would be pointless. Also, I understand the feelings involved, but a Maine arrest warrant would also appear to be futile. I certainly agree that Lincoln Officer Mark Fucile deserves much credit here for his assistance to the Springfield authorities.
So his charge in Oregon is regarding the same girl as in Maine? I thought it was a different child.
Probably they can only charge him with a misdemeanor in Maine. That would be the most common reason to decline extradition.
Oregon “missionary”…the irony.
I would call him a wolf in sheep’s clothing but that would be an insult to the wolves.
Tough month to be a Mormon. Romney lost by a huge margin, the Gay rights legislation passed in Maine by a wide majority, and now the missionaries are off-track. Yikes.
Seems I remember you saying the same “margin” back when gay marriage was repealed was a “small majority.” same numbers…
Hard to believe that he is a Mormon. No Mormons do this. Period.
Really? Are you Mormon?
No, I am not Mormon, but I did buy the CD of the Broadway smash musical “The Book of Mormon,” so I know all about the saintliness of Mormons. The musical is brilliant, and no self-respecting Mormon should see it. There is surely no more self-righteous faith in America at least than Mormonism. As much as most other religions would love to convert non-believers, does any other religion nowadays baptize deceased people into their own faith, as does Mormonism, so they can allegedly be saved? What a bunch of intolerant shallow-minded jerks–starting with Mitt Romney. Let him set up a Bain Capital office in Salt Lake City.

It would be nice if you could explain what crime he is alleged to have committed in Maine and what will be in the warrant application.
Otherwise, it sounds like you’re making stuff up.
Why do we need to wait till he comes to Maine, i’ll go and bring him back, just give me gas money, i think if i said i was going to get him, people will be happy to hand over some gas money!
