AUBURN, Maine — A Falmouth man suffered minor injuries Monday afternoon when his car crested a hill on Washington Street and struck a tractor-trailer blocking the southbound lanes, according to police.
Archie Thiboutot, 68, of Falmouth was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The driver of the a tractor-trailer, James Sliter, 47, of West Newfield, was not hurt in the 1:50 p.m. collision, according to officer Eric Bell’s report.
Sliter was backing into the driveway of Connectivity Point to make a delivery and was blocking both southbound lanes when Thiboutot’s Honda sedan crested the hill and he was partially blinded by sunlight, the report said.
Thiboutot’s 1993 Honda was heavily damaged. The 2007 Freightliner registered to A Duie Pyle Inc. of West Chester, Pa., had minor damage, the report said.
Traffic was diverted from the scene until the road was reopened by 2:15 p.m.
This is the type of thing that I worry about.
Crest a hill while driving down the road , minding your
own business , and there is a tractor trailer crossways in
the road blocking both lanes.
What to do !? Yikes.

I would hardly consider a 4 door sedan a classic car.
A ’93 Honda, almost 20 years old, is a classic.

Do people not pay attention in driver’s ed anymore? I notice that a lot of drivers seem to ignore one of the most basic rules of the road — always maintain control of your vehicle. This includes driving at a speed that allows you to come to a stop within your line of sight.
Sun in your eyes? Slow down.
Can’t see over a blind hill? Slow down.
Drivers ed at 68? I seriously doubt that a Maine driver of 68 years old had drivers education in school. He would have learned to drive from their parents back in 1962. This is presuming they waited till 18 to learn to drive. More than likely they were driving as soon as their feet could touch the pedals.
You can bet this one ends up in Charlie Summers’s “Too Old To Drive” file.
Still miserable over his loss in the Senate Race anything could happen.
Miserable? Charlie will run for Governor next. He needs to lose that one for a hat trick.
