  1. Saw on the local news this is an accidental death so no need for anyone making rude or comments about a cause. (There are always those people who make comments without thinking first and this always breaks my heart of those left behind. I am not trying to tell those who comment how to respond or sway their position just a caution to think before you write as someday this could happen to you. Most times words hurt more than any other pain we as rational humans feel.)This young woman has a family and friends who are not only in shock but a lot of unbearable grief none of us would ever want to feel. My condolences to this tragedy of a young life lost and I hope peace can be found by the family and friends of Lindsay. RIP Lindsay.

    1. While I agree with most of what you said (only less passionately), how does one have an accidental death in a motel save for a fall in the shower or a drug overdose?
Police often call it “accidental’ to quell the fears of the locals in those cases.

      1. All I said was please don’t draw conclusions and consider others feelings. Whether a fall, overdose or whatever it is still someone’s child and hurtful comments don’t add anything to the situation. If this were your child what would you rather hear “I am very sorry for your loss” or “Too bad your child took drugs and caused her own death so too bad?” No matter what happened she is still gone and by stating it was accidental just keeps folks in the area relieved their is not a criminal running around hurting or killing people. Even though most think the crime rate in Caribou is low these are days of changing ways and robberies with or without guns, beatings for money or drugs and many other crimes happen anytime, anywhere and for almost any reason. Just know that if my child died I would be devastated and reading or hearing hurtful comments would only add to my unbearable pain. But thanks for your reply to my comment as I have an open mind and try to see all sides of everything I see or read so I can form a thoughtful, fact based opinion that is just that — My opinion.

        1. You are really good at doing what you have asked others not to do. Indirectly slip in them words you want to protect others from. I would say you have done a bang up job. Nice.

        2. If a child or any other loved one died, I would not be surfing comment postings in any public media forum.
There are idiots and cold-hearted people everywhere and some will post rude/offensive statements even if they know the difference just to be mean or to get someones goat.

        3. I understood and AGREED with your comment the first time.
I merely questioned the ‘local news’ report of it being an ‘accident’ in a motel room.
I’ve since found that they were used as apartments for longer than an overnite stay.

      2. “Police often and call it ” accidental to quell the
        fears of the locals …”

I must say I am skeptical. Do you have any examples of the police, often or even ever, doing such things?

        1. While police are still investigating (in this case an unattended death), they don’t want to tip their hand to a possible perp about what they know. Since neighbors may be afraid there might be a killer on the loose, police will usually call it an accident, an isolated event or even possibly call it a target crime.
Is this concept unheard of for you?

  2. The rooms there are actually used as apartments. According to the local news, this was her home where she was found. The place is called Riverside Motor Inn, or something like that, but it’s really just a bunch of small apartments, so it could have been anything. Sadly, though, if this follows the trend, the accidetal death will probably end up being an accidental overdose. So very sad.
