SKOWHEGAN, Maine — A Quebec truck driver escaped injury after his rig failed to negotiate a left-hand turn Monday morning, according to police.
Christopher Sevegny, 28, who was transporting a load of logs southbound on U.S. Route 201, was attempting to turn onto Varney Road near the Sappi paper mill when he left the roadway and tipped over, according to Skowhegan interim Police Chief Daniel Summers.
The crash occurred around 8 a.m. Monday, Summers said Tuesday. While Sevegny did not dump his load, speed was a factor in the crash, according to Summers.
“He could not make that corner quick enough,” Summers said. “If you’re not slowed down, you’re going to roll over.”
The truck is owned by Ltee Transvois of Quebec City, according to Summers.
Sevegny was wearing his seat belt and was not injured in the crash, Summers said. The truck, a 2009 International Grand Silver, sustained damage to its front end.
Summers said no charges are expected to be filed in the crash.
