ROCKLAND, Maine — A 34-year-old Rockland man remained behind bars Monday morning after his arrest last week on a charge that he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl after giving liquor to her and another young girl.
Aaron J. Heald was arrested last week for unlawful sexual contact and unlawful furnishing of liquor to minors. He made his initial appearance Friday afternoon in Rockland District Court before Judge Susan Sparaco.
Judge Sparaco set bail at $5,000 cash or $10,000 surety. She also prohibited him from having any contact with children under 16 years old while on bail.
Assistant District Attorney Jeffrey Baroody had asked only for cash bail of $5,000. Defense attorney William Pagnano had asked for surety bail so that Heald could try to get free on bail. Pagnano said Heald was a lifelong resident of the area and was not a flight risk.
Baroody said Heald has a significant criminal history that includes convictions for burglary and 10 counts of theft.
An affidavit filed by police in court alleges that the incident occurred Nov. 2 at his home. Heald is alleged to have provided the girls liquor and to have smoked marijuana during a party at his trailer in which both 13-year-old girls were present. According to statements from the girls, he touched one of the girls inappropriately in his bedroom while rubbing the back of the other girl who was sick.
SICK! Where are the parents?
This is really sad. He has a 12 (or 13) year old daughter. It was probably a case where kids went to spend the night with a friend and her dirtbag dad got inappropriate.

This guy liquored up a child and then sexually assaulted her. He has an extensive criminal record. Why even set bail for people like this?!?
BECAUSE in the United States, people / even bad people / are considered to be innocent until a court of law says otherwise.

I happen to agree with Franklin.
First everyone is entitled to bail so no complaining on why he got bail second this guy is dating a 22 yr old who just got out of jail.
