CARIBOU, Maine — The National Weather Service says last month’s monthly temperature was below normal in northern Maine, breaking an 18-month streak of above-normal temperatures.

The weather service says November’s average temperature in Caribou, where official records are recorded for the region, came in at 31.5 degrees, or 0.2 degrees below normal.

The last time Caribou’s monthly temperature came in below normal was in April 2011.

November’s temperatures for all of northern and eastern Maine ranged from about one-half to 2 degrees below normal across the region.

  1. The article did not mention how far above the norm Caribou temperatures have been. Generally, not only has the country, the continent, the hemisphere, and the planet seen above average temperatures over the past 10 years, but the difference between above average and average has been increasing.
There was a recent news item that Siberian permafrost has been thawing. If this is the case it is game over for the current climate as the thawing releases methane which is 100 times more heat absorbent than CO2 and will reinforce the feedback of higher temperatures, more thawing, higher temperatures, etc.
