WESTBROOK, Maine — A Cumberland County teenager is behind bars after a robbery at a fast-food restaurant on Tuesday evening, according to police.

Jacob Lipman, 18, of Raymond is facing an armed robbery charge after he held up a Subway on Main Street with a knife, according to a news release from Westbrook police.

Police responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the release, after it was reported a man armed with a large hunting knife had robbed the store and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A canine search was unsuccessful, but Westbrook officers were able to develop leads quickly and identify the suspect as Lipman, the release said.

The teenager was located in Westbrook, with Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies assisting Westbrook police, according to the release. He was subsequently arrested and the cash recovered, along with the knife allegedly used in the robbery.

Lipman remains at the Cumberland County Jail Wednesday. He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

  1. Doesn’t he know that Subway has knives too?
He’s lucky they didn’t call him out (as if they would).

  2. Previous commenters talk as though a judge would actually punish the guy. I imagine that if found guilty, the judge will sentence him to 10 years, with all but one day of probation suspended.
