BREWER, Maine — Two intoxicated passengers had to find another way home last week after their designated driver was stopped by police and charged with possession of hallucinogenic drugs and attempting to falsify evidence.
Brewer police officers Kristie Bouchard and Thom Tardiff pulled over a Jeep Cherokee driven by Aaron Robshaw, 37, of Bangor, for a loud exhaust at 2:40 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28. The stop was made on Wilson Street near the intersection with Fling Street.
“It was a routine traffic stop, but one of the officers asked for the owner’s consent to search the vehicle,” said Brewer police Cpl. Paul Gauvin. “He consented and they found some bath salts and drug paraphernalia.”
Robshaw admitted the drugs and paraphernalia were his, but not before trying to hide the evidence.
“He tried to conceal them on his person, so he’s also being charged with falsifying physical evidence in addition to the Class D drugs crime,” Gauvin said.
Robshaw was arrested and taken to Penobscot County Jail, and the Jeep Cherokee was towed as both the male and female passengers were too intoxicated to drive.
Gauvin said he didn’t know how the passengers made it home.
Robshaw was released on $100 cash bail and assigned a Jan. 23 court date at Penobscot Judicial Center.

Partymobile.
Couldnt drive ??
Toooo stoned !!!
Do they always ask to search, or just at 2:40 AM? Must be easy to find fault at that time.
And, I’m sure the vehicle operators didn’t just leave the late show!
not legally they don’t. Tardiff has some potential issues understanding the 4th and 5th amendments re: search issues. check with the DA’s office and courts that covered the area of his former police force. Don’t think you’ll find he was a star witness.
Ah, the loud muffler ploy! Had nothing to do with three sketchy-looking characters in a car at 3AM, right? Oh heck no, would’ve stopped them if it was a nice old white-haired couple in a new Buick! That aside, how about the word ‘NO.” Can we search your legally registered and insured car, listed under your name with a valid license?
How about NO?
Ah well, it’s a cinch they were coming home from one of Bangors fine drinking establishments or some other questionable activity at that hour, so it was worth a look-see. Three more to pay fines and be on probation and pay fees for that. Who says crime doesn’t pay?
should of went to Midas
Don’t buy this particular cop’s version just yet, Attention all defense attorney’s, it might be advantageous to see how many of Officer Tardiff’s cases were previously challenged and if there may in fact be testimony in which his credibility was refuted on the stand prior to his sudden departure from another police department to brewer, aka a different district and superior court, just a few months ago.
I guess they should have paid attention in school. Why give up your Constitutional rights? It should be elementary to choose what is best for yourself not the police: flunkies.
People are simply stupid when it comes to their rights.
True, they have been giving up their rights steadily since 1776, and at an accelerated rate in the last 15 years. Hope no one gets infinitely detained.
he should have said no to the search.
If the popo wants to stop you, they will find a reason…..esp. at 2:40 in the morning……

What happens if you say no to the search? Honest question…any personal experiences?
