BANGOR, Maine — A local transient was charged with criminal trespass and violating his bail after police found him intoxicated at the Airport Mall on Thursday afternoon.

Mall staff originally had to deal with Brian Redmond, 31, when he was found drunk sitting on a urinal in a restroom urinating on himself, according to Bangor police Lt. Steve Hunt.

A trespass warning was issued for Redmond and he subsequently left the property, according to Hunt. But he returned a short time later, and Bangor police Officer Chris Blanchard arrived to arrest him, Hunt said.

Redmond had bail conditions prohibiting him from consuming alcohol, so he was booked on violation of a condition of release and criminal trespass, the lieutenant said. Hunt wasn’t sure what Redmond was on bail for.

Redmond was transported to the Penobscot County Jail and later released.

  1. Please re-read this article, and edit it! You have officer Blanchard in the last 2 paragraphs as the arrested person, who was out on bail.

  2. Dang, social drinking don’t do stuff like that! The term ‘transient’ gets tossed around a lot, but what exactly are the authorities trying to say? Homeless? Out-of-towner? Shiftless hobo? Hell, shove him on the bus with a one-way ticket to Manchester and a pint of cheap vodka — problem solved. All this needless hoohaw over a tramp…

  3. He must have smelled pretty bad if he was drunk and had urineated all over himself.
Why is Bangor so loaded up with transients? Why don’t they go south? It doesn’t make sense to come here where it’s freezing cold.

    1. Hope house ,they are being bussed here from all over the state and select other states .I have talked with more than half a dozen who have, one from as far away as Tacoma 9 months in county jail and they gave him a bus ticket to Bangor with directions to the hopeless house.

    1. The days of hoboes riding the rails from state to state are long gone. I believe that many are now homegrown.

  4. Dude, you don’t sit on the urinal. You’ve got them confused. You’ve got to turn around. You’re pointed in the wrong direction!
