AUGUSTA, Maine — Police have arrested a man in connection with a pharmacy robbery in Maine’s capital city last month.

Daniel Lee Nelson, 31, a transient, is accused of robbing a CVS pharmacy on Capitol Street on Nov. 17, according to Deputy Chief Jared Mills of the Augusta Police Department.

Several leads in the investigation by police detectives in Augusta, Gardiner and the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office led police to Nelson, according to Mills.

Mills said Nelson refused to cooperate with police in the investigation, although evidence pointed to him as the suspect.

Nelson was taken into custody in Gardiner on Thursday, Mills said, charged with robbery and brought to the Kennebec County Jail, where he is being held without bail.

Mills said it doesn’t appear Nelson is responsible for a robbery at the same CVS pharmacy that occurred on Nov. 28. That suspect remains at large.

Nelson is the second pharmacy robbery suspect nabbed by Augusta police in the last week. Jason Truman, who is accused of holding up the pharmacy at Walmart on Civic Center Drive, was arrested Dec. 1.

  1. “Daniel Lee Nelson, 31, a transient”. As the crime rate soars in Maine, I am noticing a trend. Since when did we become a humane society for out of state transients? put in homeless shelters in our small towns and small cities, and the crime rate increases but of course the liberals who request these “warming centers” don’t have to worry since they always seem to live in the safest places.

    1. They do want warming centers while we rob the elderly of their social security benefits and medicare to pay for these bums

    2. I guess the election didn’t stop people from whining about the poor. Warming centers save a lot of lives and keep the indigent warm. You seem to have a problem about people keeping warm.
Liberals live in the safest places? I think you have that backwards! The rich live in the safest places in their gated communities.
