OLD TOWN, Maine — Police have arrested and charged a pair of Old Town men in connection with an early Saturday morning home invasion and burglary at a 78-year-old woman’s home on Highland Avenue, Old Town police Sgt. Michael Hashey said Sunday night.
Police say John Taylor, 20, and Wayne Sanborn, 30, both of Old Town, forcibly entered the elderly woman’s home around 1:45 a.m. Saturday while the woman was asleep. The men allegedly rummaged through the home, taking jewelry and other valuables when they left.
Hashey said investigators were able to identify Taylor and Sanborn as suspects. Sanborn was arrested at an Old Town pawn shop about 9 hours after the break in. Taylor was arrested around 8 p.m. Saturday night at a Main Street residence, according to Hashey.
Both men were taken to Penobscot County Jail. Taylor has been charged with Class B burglary and Class C theft and remained in Penobscot County Jail Sunday on a probation hold, the sergeant said. Sanborn was charged with a Class C count of receiving stolen property, but additional charges could be added as the investigation continues, Hashey said.
Class C crimes have a maximum sentence of 5 years, while Class B offenses can land a sentence of up to 10 years.

Another product of great parenting and a great justice system. For some reason, the judges continue to do catch-and-release with thugs like these. The courts don’t care, they just consider it repeat business.
2 more losers trying to steal from the elderly…..pathetic.
At 20 and 30 years these aren’t kids, they are grown men. Give them the maximum penalty under the law.
They will likely see just two to three years based on MSG. Thats Maine sentencing guidelines, and not the preservative that makes some of us sick out here, though it does have similar effects. If you notice both broke into and robbed her home. However, one is charged with only receiving stolen property. Let the watering down begin.
What no co-conspirator, aiding in or abetting a felony? Ooh, that needs to change.
It really is amazing.
Try that at my house and there would be a different outcome.
Just ain’t a rationalization in the wold for this one — and probably one of them knew the old gal lived there alone. Knee-capping comes to mind…
Hand removal too …
So now we have a 78-year-old woman who will be afraid to live in her own house. Sucks!
FRIGGING LOSER SCUMBAGS ! Anyone that preys on the elderly should end up amongst the missing !
Time for these chidren to grow up. And get a job!
They are not children, they are fully grown adult scum.
Gee, I wonder if this could possibly be the same John Taylor, 20, who was arrested for burglery this past March, also in Old Town….boy, he must have received a very stiff sentance, or none at all….he really learned his lesson….NOT!
