  1. Somewhat surprising given the apparent high rate of obesity. Saw a map this morning on the news and all 6 New England states are in the top ten

        1. It just depends upon which study one chooses to endorse. You can find a doctoral thesis to support any opinion on pretty much any subject you wish. These guys live to be published, it pays their salary and is their raison d’etre. One week butter is good, the next it’s bad. One week Maine is one of the top offenders for being obese. The next week we are 9th nationally for good health. Perhaps both opinions are correct but that doesn’t make an interesting paper for the professional journals.

        2. I’d like to see this map. Why don’t you post the link. I suspect because it doens’t exist. Every map I see shows Maine to be well above the southern states and below the national average.

  2. Wow, this seems to contradict some past reports on the age and health of Mainers….. I feel better already this morning…..

    1. Perhaps if we convinced the Republicans, in homage to Jonathan Swift, that eating the poor is a good source of protein, they would be more committed to keeping them healthy.

  3. The worst are the southern states where they believe obesity is genetic but homosexuality is a lifestyle choice!

  4. Fact existing while Republicans were running the State. Anyone seen the study or the group who did it? or is this the media scrounging for good news on a day when King got newby committee assignments and Forbes pretty much put Maine in last place for new business.

    1. Media scrounging for good news. I didn’t notice the news concerning the C minus Maine got for road conditions. One would have thought that transportation infrastructure would have been a priority of LePage’s considering he WAS all about bringing business to Maine.
