MILLINOCKET and SEBRING, Fla. – Kevin M. Megno Sr., 55, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, in Sebring, Fla. He was born Nov. 10, 1957, in Millinocket, the son of Joseph and Glennis (Craig) Megno.
Kevin was employed as a police officer in the towns of Medway and Bucksport before moving to Florida in 2000 and joining the Sebring Police Department. At the time of his death, Kevin was a deputy sheriff with Highlands County Sheriff’s Department and was employed as the school resource officer at Avon Park Middle School. Kevin was raised in the Catholic church, and enjoyed motorcycles, especially riding his Harley. He was a member of the Blue Knights, Moose Lodge, the Elks, American Legion Riders and ABATE, and was a loving father and grandfather.
Kevin is survived by his fiancee, Deborah Harris of Sebring, Fla.; children, Kevin M. Megno Jr. and his wife, Sandi, Danielle Morong-Megno and William Kimball, Tony Megno and his wife, Jamie, all of Bucksport, and David Nicholson of Shirley, Mass.; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Francis “Frank” Megno and Linda Oliver; two sisters, Kelly Madore and her husband, Michael, and Tina Morrison and her husband, Harry, all of Millinocket; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider. Gifts in memory of Kevin may be sent to the DARE Program, care of Highlands County Sheriff’s Department, 434 Fernleaf Ave., Sebring, FL 33870.
