WATERVILLE, Maine — Police are seeking a suspect or suspects responsible for detaching and stealing a sewer pipe from a Silver Street apartment building on Saturday.

Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said the pipe was reported stolen around 11 a.m. The detaching of the pipe led the basement of the building to be flooded.

The basement was flooded with sewage, the deputy chief said, and the pipe had been set outside near the building.

Police have no suspects in the case, but anyone with information on the case should contact Waterville police at 680-4700 and ask for investigating Officer Steven Brame.
