HOULTON – Allen Folsom Moody, 83, died Dec. 17, 2012. He and his twin brother, Willis, were born in Cornville, Oct. 28, 1929, – the day before the stock market crashed. They were the eighth and ninth children of Ray and Lizzie (Churchill) Moody.
He graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1947. He married Margaret Stevens, Aug. 26, 1955. She passed away May 5, 1980. He later married Beverly Woodside. Allen and his family moved to Houlton in 1961. In 1963 he purchased the Pine Tree Farm on Ludlow Road, and began 30 years of selling milk to Houlton Farms Dairy. For a few years he grew sugar beets. He was active in DHIA and served as secretary-treasurer for many years. He served as an elder and Sunday school teacher at Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church and later taught the adult men’s Sunday school class at Littleton United Baptist Church. Most recently he was a member at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Woodstock, New Brunswick, and a longtime member of the Gideon International.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Beverly; six children, Steven Moody and his wife, Judy, of Holden, Anne Moody of Hermon, Lois Moody of Bangor, Elizabeth Diehl and her husband, Patrick, of Carson, N.D., Beverly Carpenter and her husband, Tom, of Gloucester, Mass., and Jeffrey Woodside and his wife, Monica, of Hampden; eight grandchildren, Loralie and her husband, Alan, Meagan and her husband, Daniel, Amy, Matthew, Ashley, Hannah, Daniel and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Abigail; two brothers, Myron of Cornville and Willis of Sheboygan, Wis.; and a sister, Amy Stevens of Delmont, S.D. He was predeceased by his brothers, Leslie and Fremont; and his sisters, Eudora “Fay” Daniels, Lina Whittemore and Ruth Clark.
Funeral services will be held noon Thursday, Dec. 20, at Littleton United Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Straubel officiating.
