PORTLAND, Maine — A boil water order in effect here for a day has been lifted.
According to a Portland Water District press release issued Thursday morning, peninsula residents may use tap water for all purposes. Testing showed the water is safe to drink without boiling.
The advisory was issued Wednesday after a water main broke on Somerset Street.
