DAYTON, Maine — A York County man died Wednesday night after he fell from a work lift, according to police.

Shawn Hutchins, 41, an employee of Dayton Sand and Gravel, was on an 80-feet “man lift,” according to York County Maj. Bill King, when he fell.

King said it is unknown why Hutchins was on the lift at the time of the fall, as the gravel plant was not in operation at the time of the 8:30 p.m. incident.

Hutchins was pronounced dead at the scene, and Maine State Police are assisting the York County Sheriff’s Office with an investigation.

A witness was interviewed at the scene, but details were not available, King said.

    1. The news does not know why this man lost his life-they are passing on what they do have. Every news organization in the world has covered the school shootings in Newtown. Nobody has been able to determine why this young man did this. They don’t have the “why” either. Should the various news organization have not reported anything until they had all the facts?
