STANDISH, Maine — A Buxton-area man was arrested Monday morning after an alleged domestic assault followed by an hours-long standoff with police.
Ralph Gaddy Jr., 44, exited a home at 760 Boundry Road in Standish after police deployed tear gas canisters into the residence at about 7:30 a.m. Gaddy was taken to Cumberland County Jail in Portland and was charged with domestic violence assault, terrorizing and causing a police standoff. He is being held without bail, according to a press release from Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Donald Goulet.
According to Goulet, a 36-year-old female reported just after midnight that Gaddy has assaulted her. She left the scene to call 911 and subsequently met up with a deputy at another location. She told responding officers that Gaddy had been drinking and that there were several firearms in the residence.
After several unsuccessful attempts to make contact with Gaddy, the County Emergency Services Unit executed a search warrant and arrest about 7:30 a.m. Monday. Gaddy was arrested without incident following the use of tear gas by the officers.
Boundry Road was closed for several hours during the incident but was reopened around 8 a.m.

Let me guess – another wack-job with a gun?
We understand this comment thing is your whole life but can’t you say something intelligent from time to time? Really bangorian, who is the wack-job?
Some bad boys get coal for Christmas. The really bad ones get tear gas, a bed and three square meals. Merry Christmas!
So, was there an actual “stand off” which was caused by terrorizing or aggressive behavior towards authorities at all or was this guy just passed out in the house while the police were trying to contact him??
Another “loose cannon….” According to the NRA, maybe we need to put armed police at everybody’s house…
BDN, make sure you add “Gaddy had been drinking and that there were several firearms in the residence” to your story,. We need to keep this NRA thing front and center.
I don’t know why people think they are going to leave and have nothing happen to them. He knew what was going to happen when she called the police. I just took him a little while to man up and do the right thing. Booze and guns…he’s lucky no one got killed.
