BANGOR, Maine — A local woman faces an aggravated assault charge after police said she struck another woman in the face with a bottle for flirting with her boyfriend at the Bangor club Half Acre on Saturday night.
Melaine Judkins, 21, of Bangor was charged with the Class B felony, which is punishable by up to 10 years’ imprisonment, and given a Feb. 20 court date to appear at Penobscot Judicial Center.
A 24-year-old Brownville woman was treated for cuts and bruises and had to have shards of glass removed from her face and hands after the altercation, which occurred around midnight Saturday.
Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said the incident apparently resulted from Judkins’ belief that the Brownville woman was hitting on Judkins’ boyfriend on the dance floor at the club, which is located on Harlow Street behind Diamonds Gentleman’s Club.
Bangor police officers Richard Polk and Dustin Dow responded to the emergency call. They questioned the Brownville woman, as well as several witnesses, and Judkins, but didn’t detain her, as they were still gathering evidence when she left.
The officers later tracked Judkins down at the emergency room at St. Joseph Hospital, where she was getting stitches for an undisclosed hand injury.
“Based on witness statements and her prior history, they issued Judkins a court summons for aggravated assault,” said Bangor police Lt. Tom Reagan.
Judkins was convicted of theft by unauthorized taking earlier this year and disorderly conduct in 2011, according to court records published in the Bangor Daily News.
The Brownville woman, whose lip was bleeding badly and whose face and shirt were covered with blood, was treated at Eastern Maine Medical Center and released, according to Edwards.
I’m happy for two things: 1. I don’t live in Bangor, and 2. My last name isn’t “Judkins”.
Whew, Melaine Judkins is a real “Tiger”…

Once again, bangor daily news has false information! I was at the club and saw the whole thing. Melanie did not have a bottle. She had a glass with her drink in it. She got on the stage, wearing heels, where everyone was dancing and tried to talk someone when she was bumped into. She went to catch herself and slipped. Where her glass went flying. If she really smashed someone with a bottle likthe drunk witnesses are saying, she would have walked away completely fine, instead she ended up in the er also. Why do you think she was not arrested!? They didn’t have enough information because they took statements from this poor girl that was just in the wrong place, at the wrong time, intoxicated friends!

So the majority of people that go out to the establishments around town without getting into stupid fights get punished for the few that can’t control themselves? (Maybe get the city to pass a grammar ordinance….Gentleman’s Club means club for ONE gentleman……and then we’re going to try to get background checks to prove that the one man who is allowed to enter is in fact….a gentleman…..For example, by an Act of Congress, I am an officer and a gentleman……)
