WATERVILLE, Maine — A Waterville man was arrested Friday morning after assaulting a female family member, police said.

Eric Starner, 31, had allegedly been fighting with the woman overnight Thursday and into the morning hours of Friday, Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said Monday.

The argument grew heated and Starner punched the woman several times, Rumsey said. The woman was not seriously hurt.

Starner was arrested and booked on a charge of domestic violence assault, Rumsey said. He was released on $500 cash bail.

  1. Woman punched several times and that’s worth only $500 cash bail? That really teaches him a lesson!!!

    1. Bail isn’t meant to punish people.
      bail:
      noun
property or money given as surety that a person released from custody will return at an appointed time.

      1. True, and I am sure that based on this guys ability to think rationally and always do the right thing, that he will totally behave himself while out on bail.

        1. I didn’t say the guy was a saint. I just stated what bail was and was not. Bail is not meant to be punishment. If he violates his bail conditions then I hope bail is revoked. However, I’m sure that will not be the case, it seems that many people who violate bail conditions are still released.

        1. Very true.
Actually reminds me of the days when I use to go out with friends. Before heading to our favorite spots I use to joke to people about bringing enough money to cover the bar tab and have some tucked away for bail.

  2. Sounds like a real winner. Just waiting for the mugshot so we can confirm the presence of the neck tat.
