LIMERICK, Maine — A York County man rang in the new year with an operating under the influence charge after his truck rolled over late Monday night, police said.

Deputy Darren Cyr of the York County Sheriff’s Office had observed Brian Roberts, 36, of West Newfield speeding down Route 5 just after 11 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and attempted to pull him over, Maj. William King said.

Roberts had tried to pass another vehicle on a corner when he lost control, according to King. His pickup flipped onto its side near Alpha Sports, trapping Roberts in the vehicle.

Roberts, who was the only occupant, suffered injuries not considered to be life-threatening and was treated at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford. He was summoned for operating under the influence.
