PARIS, Maine — A Rumford man accused of attacking a woman and holding a knife to her throat was being held on $250 bail Wednesday night at the Oxford County Jail.
Arturo P. Sanchez, 49, of 323 Waldo St. in Rumford, was arrested at around 4 a.m. Tuesday on charges of criminal threatening and assault. A woman who was with him, Tammy Dureault, 42, was arrested on one count of disorderly conduct for allegedly attacking the same woman Sanchez is accused of threatening with a knife.
According to a report by Cpl. Lawrence Winson of the Rumford Police Department, a man and woman called police to say that a man had threatened them with a knife. When a friend came home to say he’d been threatened by two males on Waldo Street, the man and woman went to the Waldo Street address to find out what happened.
The two told Winson that Sanchez and Dureault came outside aggressively. Dureault is accused of attacking the female victim. Sanchez is accused of punching the female victim five times in the face before pulling a knife on her and holding it to her throat. The two ran to nearby Ralph’s Store and called the police.
Sanchez is set to be arraigned in Oxford County Superior Court on March 5. Dureault is set to appear in Rumford District Court.

Wow so much guns and knifes being used again people in the newspapers. Maybe we need to beef up the penalties if you threaten someone by using a gun or knife. How about mandatory jail for one year if you threaten someone and if you kill someone how about your life too? The court system needs to keep these nuts behind bars!
$250 bail for pummeling someone in the face and then threatening to slit their throat…absolutely amazing.
