CARIBOU – Edward J. Searles, 84, died unexpectedly Jan. 2, 2013, at his residence. He was born Dec. 23, 1928, in Caribou, the son of the late Herbert and Hilda (Walton) Searles.
Mr. Searles was employed in construction for a number of years and then was employed by Fred Harmon Farms for more than 25 years. He married Rose Devoe.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Rose of Caribou, are his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ronald Plourde of New Hampshire; one brother, Wendell Searles of Caribou; one sister, Christine Warner of Woodland; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Searles was predeceased by a daughter, Georgia Bowen Walker; a brother, Stillman; and two sisters, Geneva Skidgel and Lucy Nedeau.
Friends may call noon until time of funeral services Saturday, Jan. 5, at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. David Goupille officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery. www.mocklerfuneralhome.com
