WASHBURN — Carsyn Koch and Kenzie Worcester scored 14 points each to help the Washburn Beavers stay undefeated with a 64-34 schoolgirl basketball victory over the Van Buren Crusaders Friday night in a showdown between two of the top Aroostook County teams in Eastern Maine Class D.
Washburn improved to 10-0 while Van Buren slipped to 7-4. Washburn also beat Van Buren in an Eastern Maine Class D semifinal last season on its way to winning the state title.
Koch grabbed 7 rebounds and Carmen Bragg contributed 10 points and 7 assists for Washburn Friday night.
Parise Rossignol paced Van Buren with a game-high 15 points, but was slowed by an ankle injury before leaving the game in the fourth quarter. Felisha Bouchard and Courtney Parent added six points each for the Crusaders.
