WATERBORO, Maine — Police in York County are investigating a hit-and-run accident in which a teenage boy was struck by an SUV.

The 17-year-old was walking along Townhouse Road in Waterboro when he was hit by a white SUV just after 5 p.m., according to Chief Deputy William King of the York County Sheriff’s Office.

The SUV stopped briefly after hitting the teen, but fled the scene and headed towards Hollis, King said. He added police are unclear how many occupants were inside or whether the vehicle had any damage.

The victim was treated at Southern Maine Medical Center and released, King said. Anyone with information should contact York County sheriff’s deputies at 324-1113.
