NEWPORT — The Nokomis Warriors surged to a 15-point lead in the first quarter Thursday night, setting the tone for their 71-50 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B girls basketball victory over Leavitt of Turner Center.
Taylor Shaw connected for two 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 23 points to pace Nokomis. Anna MacKenzie scored 16 points and Lacey Kent-Webber tallied 10 points.
Jenna Cote led Leavitt of Turner Center with 19 points, including five 3-point field goals, while Meagan Dow contributed 10 points.
