SACO, Maine — A local man is facing a felony charge after heroin was found in his vehicle during a traffic stop last week, according to police.

Officers on patrol recognized a vehicle driven by Jonathan Methot, 27, of Saco shortly after midnight on Jan. 15 and pulled him over when it was discovered his license was suspended, according to Sgt. Corey Huntress.

Methot pulled over without incident, the sergeant said, and originally was going to be charged with operating after suspension, a Class E misdemeanor.

However, officers found a gram of heroin inside the vehicle, and a Class C felony charge of unlawful possession of heroin was added, Huntress said.

Methot was booked into the York County Jail.

According to Bangor Daily News archives, Methot was arrested last summer and charged with domestic violence assault after an argument with his fiancee.
