SOMERVILLE, Maine — The cause of a house fire in Lincoln County that left one man dead Thursday will likely never be determined, an official said Friday.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Friday afternoon the State Medical Examiner’s Office is working on a cause of death and positive identification of the victim, likely 92-year-old Cecil Brann, who owned the farmhouse.

The body was found in the kitchen of the house, which was destroyed, McCausland said.

A neighbor reported the blaze at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, and the body was found at 9 p.m., according to McCausland.

The incident marks the state’s first fire death of 2013.
