CROSSVILLE, TENN. – Harry Anthony Mercer, 90, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at
Wharton Nursing Home, Pleasant Hill, Tenn. He was born Feb. 16, 1922, in Chicago, son of the late Harry and Louise (Beilman) Mercer.
Mr. Mercer was retired from Diamond International Corp. and a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a decorated combat veteran.
He is survived by wife of 66 years, Helen Mary Mercer of Crossville, Tenn.; daughter, Marianne LeGrand and Edmund of Crossville, Tenn.; daughter, Patricia Lynch and Michael of Hampstead, N.C.; daughter, Janet Adams and Paul of Littleton, Mass.; son, Donald Mercer of Cape Elizabeth; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by daughter, Susan Helen Mercer; sister, Louise Owczarski; sister, Katherine Kolb; and brother, Edward Mercer.
