BRISTOL, Maine — Investigators have determined that a woman who died in a fatal fire in December started the blaze herself.

Lynn Ring, 69, allegedly used gasoline to ignite her vehicle after an argument with her husband, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

Ring became trapped inside the garage after setting her husband’s Mercedes-Benz convertible on fire on Dec. 9, McCausland said. Her body later was discovered in the garage.

McCausland said Ring’s husband, who was outside the garage when the fire started, suffered minor burns.

The car destroyed in the fire was a source of arguments between the two, McCausland said.
