ORONO – Theresa May Mossey, 84, passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Orono Commons. She was born Jan. 1, 1929, in Orono, daughter of Rupert and Anne Lyon.
Theresa was raised in Orono, and was a graduate of Orono High School. Upon graduation, she went on to marry George Mossey, and together they enjoyed 60 years of marriage. They built a life together and raised a daughter, Margaret. Theresa enjoyed working at home for a few years before going to work as a crossing guard. After that, she went to work for Sears Roebuck for many years, selling clothing. Upon retirement, Theresa and her husband moved out to Pushaw Lake. She enjoyed her life and worked hard, even though she was ill for several years. She loved to play bingo and would often go out two or three times a week to play. She enjoyed a good card game and being sociable. She was an avid reader and enjoyed any book she could find.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Mossey. Theresa is survived by her daughter, Margaret “Peggy” O’Meara of Bangor; brother, Rupert Lyon and wife, Muriel; two sisters, Jennine Sulinsky and Ethel Ramsey; grandson, Tom O’Meara and wife, Alyshea, of Pushaw Lake; two great-grandsons, Alec and Aiden; many nieces and nephews.
