FORT FAIRFIELD – Kenneth W. “Ted” Kinney, 82, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, Feb. 19, 2013, at The Aroostook Medical Center, Presque Isle, with his family by his side. He was born Jan. 14, 1931, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Ellis W. and Lena M. (Gustin) Kinney.
Ted was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School, class of 1948, and went on to serve his country with the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Korean War. He was married to Norma H. MacDonald, Dec. 5, 1955.
Ted is survived by his wife of 57 years, Norma of Fort Fairfield; one son, Bruce Kinney and his wife, Vicki, of Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Susan Winslow and her husband, Darryl, of Wells; two grandsons, Justin Kinney of Waterville and Seth Cote of Biddeford; two great-grandchildren, Arianna and Calvin Cote, both of Biddeford; three sisters, Marian Wyman and her husband, Donald, and Elaine Kinney, all of Fort Fairfield, and Anne Marie Abshire of Bethel, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ted was predeceased by one son, Peter W. Kinney; and two brothers, Harold and Clarence Kinney.
In keeping with Ted’s wishes, there will be no public services. A private committal service will take place at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou, later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Kinney to American Heart and Stroke Association, Founder Affiliate, 51 U.S. Route 1, Suite M, Scarborough, ME 04074. Arrangements have been entrusted to Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield.
