OLD TOWN – Alice Rose (Vaillancourt) Treadwell, wife of Chandler Treadwell, passed away March 5, 2013, at Pine Point Nursing Home, Scarborough. She was born Jan. 18, 1926, in Old Town, to Thomas and Louise Vaillancourt.
Rose’s blue eyes, her beautiful smile and her spunky spirit will be missed. Rose loved gardening, quilting, going out dancing and spending time with her family. Rose worked at Eastern Maine Medical Center and Penobscot Shoe Shop for many years.
Rose is survived by four children, Louise White and husband, Ed, of Salem, N.H., Henry “Skip” Ramsey and wife, Lisa, of Gorham, Pam Bertheim and husband, Ron, of Methuen, Mass., and Russell Treadwell of Old Town; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored. She is also survived by a brother, Francis; and two sisters, Yvonne and Theresa. She was predeceased by her husband, Chandler Treadwell; brothers, Louie, Harry, Wilfred and Oneil; and sisters, Stella, Elaine and Lorraine. The family thanks the staff at Pine Point Nursing Home for the great care she received throughout the past nine years and Sol Amor Hospice for their support throughout the past several months. The family gives special thanks to Ray, Rose, Peter, Julie and Beth. A special thank you to her roommate, Bev Larrabee, for watching over her and becoming a part of our family.
At Rose’s request, there will be no funeral. A memorial service will be held in the spring.
