VEAZIE – Marie Ann Tingley, 78, passed away March 4, 2013, at her home, after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 14, 1935, in Winthrop, Mass., the daughter of Winfield Abel Devlin and Alice May Frieberger.
Marie, who was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, will be remembered for her love of gardening, her sparkling green eyes, her flowing red hair and her gentle friendliness. She had a knack for making friends wherever she went. She loved with a generosity that is rare, lavishing gifts, time and kindness on her family and friends without a thought of receiving anything in return. Marie brought beauty and life wherever she went, and her quiet love will never be forgotten by the many people whose lives she touched.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 31 years, Aubrey M. Tingley of Waterville; and her brother, Skippy Devlin. Marie is survived by her daughters, Gail Webster of Brunswick, Elizabeth Johnson of Veazie and Cindy Cyrus of Waterville; four sons, Frank, Mark and Bruce Tingley of Fairfield and Scott Tingley of Clinton, Mass.; brothers, Morris Taylor of San Francisco, Robert Devlin of Tumbling Shoals, Ark., William Devlin of Bangor, Jimmy Devlin and Peter Devlin of Cleburne, Texas; 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Shawmut Baptist Chapel, 57 Bray Road, Shawmut. Interment will be held at a later date.
